the fire

The Fire

Burn me now why don't you
Put me atop a pyre
Watch as the flames lick my feet
And a grimace spreads instead of a smile

Burn me now why don't you
Do not heed my pain
Shut your ears to the words I cry
There is no water in my eye

Burn me now why don't you
There is ecstasy in death
But I pray you not to forget me
When I have breathed my final breath
